It’s funny. I’m sitting at the airport headed back to Indianapolis, and I am overwhelmed with joy & gratitude. Thank you God, thank you to my fam, thank you to my friends, coaches, teammates, my fans, all of the people who have helped me develop into the woman that I am today.
With Thanksgiving just a few days away, its only natural to be filled with an attitude of gratitude, but what about the other 364 days? There are so many things that we get caught up in- life itself, and we just move on and never look back. Every once in a while we shout out a “Thank you, God Bless or Have a nice day.”
Happy Journaling : )
So, here’s a challenge for all of us (since I know how much we all love challenges). For the next 30 days from Thanksgiving to Christmas let’s show someone our appreciation in one form or another. It can be someone you know and/or a complete stranger. And, document the response you get from that person. Here’s an example: I had to use the restroom in between flights here in Charlotte, and as I walked in the assistant in there looked at me, smiled and said “Good Morning, welcome to Charlotte.” And before I left she said, “Have a nice day.” In the busyness of my life and trying to get to and from where I want to go, that moment broke me out of my own zone and allowed me to enter her space. It was a breath of fresh air.
Think of the conversations you’ve had with people when they ask you “How’re you doing?” But, never stick around to hear your response. Imagine if we could slow life down a little bit how conscious we’d be of the lives around us and our capacity to change them. : ) Just a thought.! So back to my challenge… From Thanksgiving to Christmas get out of your comfort zone and express thankfulness or do a great deed for others and make sure that you pull your journal out and keep track of it. This is not for an award, but just to continue leaving your handprints on the lives around you!
Love me my nephews!!
I’m so thankful for all of the opportunities that I’ve had, and for most recently being able to spend time with my brother’s oldest son, Maleek, at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC. It’s always good to see him, but to enter his world at Presbyterian that’s something that I’m appreciative of. Words can’t express how proud I am of him and just the journey that he’s taken as a young man. He is absolutely amazing and I’m so blessed to be able to share in something that he will forever remember.
Well, just a few days left before the family comes and I’m so excited as this is the first time we’ll be host of Thanksgiving dinner. Sure to be a great time bringing so many people together to be thankful for what we have. Truly a blessing!!
