Ups & Downs of Life on the Road

LA Times with the team. Getting ready for the pool workout : )
LA Times with the team. Getting ready for the pool workout : )

Time has gotten away from me… in a good way : ) A lot has happened (as I always say in my blogs), since the last time I wrote, but let me start with the latest Tamika-isms…

➢ While getting on an elevator after leaving treatment in DC last week, I had a piece of paper, a pen, my room key and my cellphone in both hands. When I walked on the elevator, I was so focused on my cellphone and room key not touching so that I wouldn’t have to go downstairs to get a new key. In the midst of shuffling things in my hand, my phone dropped out of my hand and directly down the elevator shaft (the gap between the elevator and the floor). Needless to say, it was embarrassing going to the front desk to tell them and ask if there was anyway to get the phone. I did get it, but… It didn’t work and I was without a phone for 5 days. What are the odds of something like that happening? A PERFECT SHOT!! SMH

➢ After the Phoenix game, I didn’t want to put my phone on the charger until it went completely dead. So, in the meantime I set my ipad’s alarm for 6:30a and my cellphone for 6:45a. The bus was leaving at 8a, and I had treatment at 7:15a so I knew I would have plenty of time. As planned, my ipad buzzed at 6:30a and I rolled over to my cellphone being dead. I plugged the phone in and started to get ready to head to Todd’s room. Jumped in the shower, packed my bag, and laid out the clothes that I would put on after finishing treatment. Well… I don’t know why, but when I finally focused enough to look at the curtains, it seemed like it was still super dark outside. Hmmm… I looked at my ipad and turned my phone on. At that point I realized that not only was my ipad still on airplane mode, it was EST. So, I was ready for treatment at 3:45a… C’mon Mik!! SMH

LOL! Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself to keep from crying hahaha. Thank God both situations ended up positively, but whew in the moment not so funny.

I can’t believe it’s been over 3 weeks since I’ve checked in, but here I am. A lot of great things have been going on, and coming off the All-Star Break we have been on a roll. I attribute a lot of our success to coming back after the break with an extreme focus and Steph taking her expectations up a notch. It’s fun to see how people perform with a little bit of pressure. I’d have to say that we have stepped up to the challenge

Aptakisic Junior High and Stevenson High School!!

A few weeks ago, after the Chicago game, I got to visit my old stomping grounds. I went by Aptakisic Junior High and Stevenson High School to relive the memories I had from growing up. I also got a chance to visit Julie Foudy’s Leadership Camp in Lake Forest, IL. It’s funny because her and I had been going back and forth for a few months, but this was the first time we’ve actually seen each other face to face. Needless to say, all of the AWESOME & AMAZING things about her we’re true. Such an amazing person, and I could literally feel the warmth of her spirit in how she was with the people around her and how they were towards her. So cool to see!!! This will hopefully be the first of many more encounters : )

Other than that, have had quite a few family birthdays celebrated, and lots of cake, cupcakes, ice cream and family time!! Yayyyyyy!! Well, I promise I won’t be gone too long. But, until then… see ya on the court!

A lil Birthday Fun at the Fever Game. Thanks Freddy!!

I know I posted this on my IG, but here’s my quote of the week… “If you do what you practice there can be no fear, because your work ethic in practice eliminates fear.” Marvin “Doc” Harvey

Best wishes and God Bless!!
