In the moments that we await the US Women’s National Team World Cup Finals vs Japan kicking off (7p Fox,Telemundo), it’s time for another blog. Hope everyone had a Happy (and safe) 4th of July. It seems like weeks just continue to fly by with so many great things coming up and lots of love floating through the air. I don’t even know where to begin, but let me give you a lil recap of my life as of late.
The mood was set for this past weekend with two wins, one on the road against the Connecticut Sun, and our first win at home against the Washington Mystics. It’s fun to see my team zone in and focus on the things that will help us be successful- defense and rebounding. It’s amazing how much different our team is when we shift our focus onto JUST those 2 things. And, play together on both ends of the court. That’s what’s fun to see!!!
Chef JJ's with the Crew
Our weekend kicked off with a team event at Chef JJ’s, where we did some team building exercises centered around cooking and having to work together to create some masterpieces. Talk about so much fun!!! We had a blast. And, although team 1 lost by 3 points, we all walked out ready to get on with the rest of our day, and full for the moment.
I am so honored to be a finalist for the inaugural Sports Humanitarian of the Year Awards, presented by ESPN and PlayStation®, alongside Anquan Boldin (NFL- San Francisco 49ers), John Cena (WWE) and Henrik Lundqvist (NHL- New York Rangers). This award will celebrate and honor athletes, teams, nonprofits and members of the sports industry for using sport to serve communities and make a positive impact on society. What an honor to not only be a finialist with my Catch the Stars Foundation, but to also be representing the WNBA, NBA, Indiana Fever & Pacers organization, Women’s Sports Foundation, and WOMEN overall. This is something that I could never have dreamed of, but I’m so excited for July 14th!!!
Our 4th of July cookout was great!! Hanging with my teammates and fam, eating great BBQ, chilling by the lake, doing s’mores, seeing the fireworks, talking, playing games… All things I love about holidays!! Can’t get any better!!
Love, love, love...
In the midst of all of the fun, there was also lots of love!! Witnessed a wedding, and part of an engagement party for some great friends (fam) that have been a part of my life for many years!! So, I must say this was a HAPPY, HAPPY weekend and now it’s time to watch the US Women Win this CUP… and rest!!
