Wooooooooooooossaahhhhhh : ) Well, it’s official. This is my final Opening Night Eve as I head into my final season of my WNBA career. I'm trying to keep from getting emotional, but it makes me sad to know that this is my final season in a Fever uniform. My final season as a teammate, a player, a captain.
Kind of crazy because I have some of the same emotions remember before my first game I ever put on a jersey for the Indiana Fever. Anxiousness, excitement, butterflies… a little bit of everything. I don’t feel the same fear that I felt in the beginning of my career. That feeling has been replaced with a fear of not being able to be the best player that I can possibly be by the time I step away from the game. Fear of disappointing myself, my teammates & fans.
2016 Media Day
The past few weeks since training camp started has been a path of highs and lows and has marked the beginning of my finale. My final preseason game… Media Day.. And now, my season opener. Wow!!! It’s going to be an incredible & emotional season.
One of my favorite memories of my 15 years is the first time I stood waiting for the announcer to call my name as a starter for the Indiana Fever. That was 2002 and now here we fast-forward to tonight and I can’t wait til tomorrow. This spearheads yet another “last.”
As I follow in the footprints of the great players before me, I pray my legacy will not only remain on the court, but even more so off the court.
Catch the Stars Foundation will kick off our FIRST stop of the #TCForever Legacy Tour in Atlanta on May 29th. I am excited about the support that I’ve received from each team as we share a night with the fans in their arenas. I wanted to do something to continue my vision of giving back and this is where it all began- in the community. My hopes with the overall tour is to raise $100,000 and we WILL expand to each of the other 11 cities in 2017. My motto for this year is #ChangingLives and that is what we will do everywhere we go.
2016 Scholar Athlete Dinner
Last night we hosted our 11th Annual Catch the Stars Foundation Scholar Athlete Dinner. While speaking with our group of 36 high school seniors & scholarship finalists, I realized that we are in the same boat. While they are on their way to college, I am on my way to the next phase of life after this season. So much to be thankful for, but so much ahead of all of us!!
What I do know is that I'm going to take in every single moment! The big and small! The highs and the lows!
Thank you for all of your support!! God Bless! Now, let's Get to Work!!
