First off, CONGRATS to the Indianapolis Colts, our AFC South Champions! Big shout out to my Colts fam- Reggie Wayne and Dwayne Allen! It was super cool to be at the game and feel the #ColtsNation atmosphere. On to the next fellas!! Keep winning and keep the streak alive!!
Week two has wrapped up, and not without more excitement , love and extra fun! The challenge of the month has been to do something to put a smile on others faces. Well, it has been another successful week, and I can’t wait to tell you about it!!
Our previous Catch the Stars Foundation Board President, Dianne Hornbeak, sat down with NaKaisha Tolbert-Banks for a radio interview on “Spotlight Indianapolis.” Click here to see what Ms. Hornbeak had to share about CTSF celebrating it’s 10th year anniversary.
While Dianne did her interview, I got a chance to be the first interviewee for the Indiana Fever’s new “Not So Off The Record” show. It’s always great to catch up with the one and only Eddie White, and talk about all of the interesting things going on in life overall. Who loves SHOPPING? Not me! LOL I want to give a big thank you to our volunteers who went shopping for our families for the holidays. While I don’t like to do the shopping, I love wrapping gifts, and dropping them off to be received by the kids. What a blessing to bless others!
Thanks Sandy, Kathy Jo, NaKaisha and all of our CTS shoppers!! So appreciated : )
Last night was the celebration for our Court STARS & CHAMPS youth at the Pacers game. I love going through the program, but I also LOVE being able to share the final moments of the commitment that they’ve made for the past 6 weeks. Our Court STARS & CHAMPS is a unique journey of self exploration addressing character building topics including goal setting, self-esteem, decision making and more in a positive and nurturing atmosphere. We focus on developing great young people through a mentorship program, but we also have a fitness component at each session. After the final celebration, we’ll meet once more to assist with a Christmas party for underprivileged youth, and then we’ll all go into the Christmas break truly understanding that it is ALL about giving and not receiving : )

A good deed is a heart issue, and sometimes it really is all about being in the right place at the right time. This past week included being a part of a birthday celebration, leaving an extra tip to one of my favorite waiters in Indy and buying a meal to a lovely young lady that recognized me and chatted me up for a bit. When I think back to times when I’ve been the recipient of someone else’s “good” faith, it reminds me of the way that I felt, and the determination I had to always give back. Those feelings never go away.
So, the challenge still stands. You have 16 days to put a smile on others faces. It’s not a test, but just a commitment to making this world a better place. Are you ready???
