Christmas has come and gone. Basketball camp has come and gone. And, the anticipation for the New Year has come and gone. We are officially 9 days in, and I don’t know why I feel like time just continues to get away from me.
Our New Year’s Celebration was amazing. We sent off our friends in the morning, and then attended the 6p church service so that we could be at home by the time the clock ticked to January 1st, 2016 at 12a. When I think of all that God has blessed me with, and especially in 2015, I’m so thankful for Him in my life.
My top 3 most memorable happenings in 2015 were:
1. My fiancée proposing to me (can’t wait for the wedding in the upcoming months)
2015 WNBA Finals
2. The overall success of our Fever team and making it to the WNBA Finals (despite losing in game 5)
Best Sportsmanship Award goes to this young man : )
3. Celebrating our 15th year of our Catch the Stars Youth Holiday Basketball Camp
Of course, there were many other great moments, but personally these are the ones that are top of mind when I glance back.
Now begins the ultimate end of my journey on the court. Our families went to the gym on New Years Day, and as I worked out on one end, my mind kept going to… “this time next year where will I be.” I felt my eyes watering a little bit just realizing that this is the last New Year’s that I will celebrate as a player. These are the last months leading into my final season. This is going to be the Official ending of my on the court TC fairy tale. So surreal…
But, I’m super excited!! Last year we picked One Word that we would focus on for the year. My one word for this year is – ENJOY!!! I promise that I will enjoy each part of the process this year and that I will give everything I have (as always) to every aspect of this season. We have a lot of cool stuff planned for this upcoming season and I can’t wait to make the official announcement of everything that we have going on. This is going to be an absolutely AMAZING year!!!
So, while my one word is ENJOY, I will enjoy every day and savor the opportunities of the day. It kind of reminds me of the movie “50 First Dates” where the main character, Henry, finally finds the girl of his dreams, Lucy, and then discovers she has short-term memory loss and forgets him every day. What if we could be thankful for each day and go into the next day being thankful for what that day will bring? So, we haven’t exactly forgotten what God has done for us, and how much He’s blessed us, but we are able to focus on His goodness every day like it’s our last.
These next few weeks will be FULL of adventures and I’m anxious to see where all it takes me. I’m super excited and honored to be heading to Memphis to be honored by the Grizzlies for their 14th Annual MLK Jr. Celebration (http://www.nba.com/grizzlies/news/mlk-celebration-day-151229#). Super exciting!!! There are a few more “happenings” from there where I may be in NYC for a bit to shadow a few people in the NBA/NBPA/WNBPA Offices. Needless to say, a lot going on and a lot to ENJOY!!!
Well, stay tuned to all of the upcoming news! A lot of upcoming announcements and trust me if you don’t follow me on my Instagram & Twitter pages… DO IT NOW- @catchin24!!! We’ll be in touch!
